EXCLUSIVE: Shabana Azmi Reveals Anu Malik’s Struggle To Work With Umesh Mehra In Sohni Mahiwal; “He Started Playing A Tune In The Bathroom..”

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Dabba Cartel actress Shabana Azmi opened up on being greedy for work. She also went ahead and discussed an instance of Anu Malik chasing Umesh Mehra for work as an example. Along with Shabana, other cast of Dabba Carrtel too shared their experiences and journey in the industry.

Speaking about asking for work and going behind directors to request for work, Shabana shared that she finds no shame in doing so. To support her statement, the 74 year old recollected an incident of Anu Malik. She shared, “Anu Malik wanted to create the music for for Sohni Mahiwal. And, three four or five times, he tried to meet Umesh Mehra-the director of the film. In a film auditorium, he saw Umesh, so he ran after him. Umesh went into the bathroom, and he started playing a tune in the bathroom. Umesh came out and said, ‘Yes, you’re doing it’. So, I just think about how much passion this has; when it comes from the heart, that’s when you realise it. If you just do it for drama, it doesn’t work.”
